The woman, a teacher on a school trip, only realised she was on fire when her students started screaming and she was able to pat out the flames.
Police are hunting four boys in connection with the incident, which happened on July 19.
British Transport Police Inspector, Gary Ancell, said assaults of this nature were “extremely rare”, but added that the incident had left the victim “extremely distressed.”
